Second brief was Technical Skills in which we had to try our best cutting, folding and gluing paper. I personally struggled with the construction based tasks, but found the cutting ones quite simple.

First task: Book binding, we had to make 3 books. A bound book, which I didn't mid sewing together however struggled with the presentation of it and in future will try to cover and hide construction evidence.
Second book was a stab stitched book, with a decorative pattern on the inside. I was overall quite happy with this book.
Final book was a saddle stitched book (stapled) with four 5mm holes cut on top the front cover to reveal the first blank page. It was incredibly difficult to staple the book itself and if I were to do it again I would make the holes and manually insert the staples.
First one I completed was to window mount a postcard onto mounting card, we were instructed to cut the hole at a 45 degree bevel. I struggled with being able to achieve this while keeping then hole square so my bevel isn't correct, however having done it I understand how to do it better next time.
Second was to surface mount six postcards onto a piece of A2.
Thirdly we mounted a peice of card to some foamcore, this helped to get me familiar with the action, then be able to cut the piece to size after.

Next we had to draw a perfect 45mm square onto the middle on a piece of A4 layout paper. Mine was only slightly off therefore I'm pretty satisfied with it.
After this I embossed a square, circle and equilateral triangle onto a piece of thin card, I struggled with doing this as I never have before.
Finally we were told to cut out a perfect 50mm radius circle onto the middle of a peice of A4. I failed at this task as I measured a 50mm diameter instead of radius.
Finally we had to draw out and cut the word SHOP in Rock well Extra Bold, and mount it onto a piece of paper. I struggled with the symmetry of the O.
Next we were told to cut out our own design with a craft knife, I struggled with this as my knives were quite blunt but the finished product coloured and mounted looks good.
Second week we had to cut and glue a 3D cube (80mm), cylinder (80mm with a 60mm diameter) and pyramid (70 by 80mm). I didn't do very well with this task as sticking all the sides together was incredibly difficult.
Next we needed to create a 3D capital letter R in Rockwell extra bold, 40mm deep by 140mm high. I struggled with this alot and should have been more precise with my overall measurements.
We also had to cut and fold a piece of layout paper in some intersting way. I created strange shapes as I didn't want it to be particularly systemical, I liked the outcome.
Finally we were asked to create a pop-up book, that illustrated a well known saying. After watching many tutorials, I found the construction pretty simple. I decided to use 'saved by the bell' and use a graveyard to show the bell being attached for people who were buried alive.
For the third week we were given three images to copy in their own media's, a pencil drawing, dip pen drawing and scraperboard. I found this task the easiest and most enjoyable out of all the previous ones.
