Illustrator

Next part of digital was a brief for illustrator which was to create three pins that are based on a tv show, movies, anime, ect.
I made a pinterest board which had groups of the different ideas I wanted to explore.
The idea of doing the pins as if they were logos to support a school football team caught my eye after seeing some designs. A few that stuck out to me were:

Some designers that stood out to me and gave me an idea of the style I wanted to create.

I looked at some existing pins that fall into the same aesthetic that I was wanting to create.

I also collected some Images from The Last of Us, the game and now series franchise that I will be using to base these sport team pins around.
These pins also double as an inside joke to the community/ fans of these video games, as the 'FireFlies' as a group of rebels within this quarantined society who are looking to make a cure to the zombie like virus which they're living in. So framing them as a normal sports team is a comedic take on it.

After this research I went straight into making sketching of the kinda thing I wanted to make.

I started with messing about on illustrator trying to recreate on of my sketches.
I tried making the logo using the pen tool until I discovered image trace and this is what I continued using throughout all my other designs.
I knew the kind of thing I wanted to do to take the bottom design further but I didn't know how to do it, I looked up a tutorial for what I wanted and created these designs.

These were my two final versions of this design, I liked the look this gave but thought I'd continue the idea as a logo or to use as branding.

However to make this into a pin I wanted a boarder around the whole design, Again with no clue how to do so, I looked with steps on how. I followed the instructions in this blog post. This idea was inspired by the work I'd previously looked at.

The next design I tried to recreate was this one, this was my first attempt at making it on illustrator.

Next I spent some time on this particular design, however I wasn't liking how
it was looking so I decided to leave it.

I  looked at kieran_wayne on Instagram for this next design and through that process I was able to produce a solid outcome.

This outcome mad me think of scout badges, which i really liked the look of, so I kept this style going and continued to frame my designs as pins for scouts.

I wanted to test put a different shape that would be more recognizable as pins.

Luc Sauve was the designer I looked at for these variations.

These were my three final designs. I favored the last ones use of type most.

I did more circle designs however I never ended up using any of these as the standard just wasn't the same and I wanted to experiment with more shapes so I moved on.

These were designs I looked at next and I created these variations. I decided to mess around with the actual shape of these variations.

These were more badge like designs, again inspired by Luc, these were some of my favorite designs. I found myself using Luc Sauve for most of my inspiration as I really liked what his designs looked like.

With all these design done I decided to pick my three favorites and edit them to create more of a harmonious feeling between them all.

Making these three feel like they were one set of pins was a lot of trial and error however I think it worked.

Emergency Intervention:

During our illustration brief we had a workshop with Dwayne where we were randomly assigned an artist to recreate their work on Illustrator, I got Giacomo Bagnara. I recreated one of his posts on instagram, in this I learned how to create a rough sense of line as well as how to easily make and cut shapes.
This was the final image:

With my first design I created I decided to bring it forward and create some variations which could eventually be used as a logo for my set.

I liked these two designs the best so after messing with the colours to fit with the pins I had my final logo.

Finally I created a backing for my pins.
