Our Fourth Brief was colour, composition and linear narrative.
with the first task being to paint our own colour wheel by mixing the correct parts of each hue.

I should have used less water in my paint as it doesn't look as effective as I was hoping.

We then needed to create a step grey scale, using this we needed to match one of the colours from the wheel above and correctly place it onto the corresponding patch on the scale. I don't think mine was too bad but I will practice this more to get more familiar with the concept.

Then we recreated the Bauhaus colour and personality exercise, this helped me to understand how colours, on their own can communicate whatever we need them to.

Personally I don't like many colours, but the variation of desaturated and darkened colours is something I enjoyed alot.

Then we needed to cumulate colours that represented one of six different prompts. I found this quite difficult as I always felt as though I was running out of colours. I will again continue to practice this as I understand broadening my understanding of colours is a tool I need.

We were also given the digital task of creating typographical designs representing another 6 prompt words.

We were also given the size of the document so well as the typefaces we needed to use.

Before starting the second week we had a task to complete in studio to help with composition. I used collage and paint to arrange in a frame as to represent 6 different words.

For week 2 we needed to study and analyse 3 different illustrators as to be able to replicate their styles to create a book cover with the title 'The Chair'. One as a science fiction, one as a children's book and the third as a psychological horror.

First I researched the illustrators and made a list of information about them. Then I made a list of ideas for my thumbnail sketches for the covers.

First thing I did was to draw out thumbnails of all 3 different genres of book covers.

Then I went onto practice each individual style of each artist.

I created 3 different final ideas for each artist. I developed these ideas onto my three final ones.

The three final drawings were these:

I edited these covers online and created my final three covers.

Our final week task was to create a 8 page comic which consists of illustrations to go along with lyrics from one of 6 songs Tony gave us to choose from.

I chose to use 'The moon is a harsh Mistress' by Glen Campbell, I created a mood board to demonstrate my different ideas. Then made two different illustrations to show some more of the ideas I had, then I made two storyboards and then developed the one I liked most.
Top right was the idea i went with.

These are the two storyboards I created.

After developing the storyboard I added text in New Times Roman, since it was the best typeface I had available. And decided on a simple front and back cover design.
