Experimental Illustration Techniques

Model Making

​After our lecture we were  tasked with creating an animal model in 45 minutes, inspired by the creations of Alan Fletcher.

​We were introduced to this weeks topic as Experimental Illustration Techniques, this consisted of looking at model making artists who created illustrations out of their 3D models. Some used cardboard, clay, recycled materials, ect.
This week we were tasked with creating animal models out of these materials and anything else we could source.

​looking at Chris Gilmour's cardboard creations I decided to try and make simple models and see how I get on.

​As I felt the models weren't my forte, i decided to try and create a small environment within a cardboard box, loosely inspired by Joseph Cornell.

To build upon skills I already had I decided to do some work with clay, however keeping with the theme I chose a very dynamic pose as to create a feeling and narrative to the stationary model.

As to make an illustration out of the clay figure I decided to take a photograph of it as if the cardboard was the dogs home. To further deepen this narrative and feelings I created
